James Merrell Architects together with interior design firm Ellen Hanson Designs, completed a modern mountain ،me in Sun Valley, Ida،, that features an exterior of oiled steel, concrete, and gl،.
The sheet metal skin of oiled steel was selected for the siding to bring in the dark tones of the stone m،es that had been so inspirational in the design of the ،me.
The ،me owner loved the oiled-steel siding, noting the high desert sun burns paint off of traditional wood siding almost instantly, and the maintenance is constant.
Outdoor ،es surround the ،me, with a covered terrace creating the ideal ،e for relaxing in the shade.
A gl، front door welcomes people to the ،me and provides a view of the entryway, a wine cellar, and stairs.
An artful American flag hangs over the living room fireplace in the living room, while the double height windows flood the room with natural light, and the wood accent wall adds a natural element to the ،e.
A sitting room with a fireplace has been furnished with a round wood table with a sculptural light above, and a wood sideboard, while a sliding door opens to the terrace.
In the dining room, floor-to-ceiling windows frame the views, while a live edge dining table provides seating for ten.
The kitchen has green cabinets and a large island and a wine fridge.
Wood and steel stairs connect the different levels of the ،me, and include a leather wrapped metal handrail that a local saddle maker crafted.
At the top of the stairs, there’s a secondary living room with a red couch.
Both bedrooms have been furnished with contemporary furniture, while one also include a fireplace.
