Holcim Foundation Awards 2025

The Swiss-based Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction – created by building materials and aggregates company Holcim in 2003 – ،lds the awards to elevate standards in sustainable design internationally.

Founded two decades ago – the free-to-enter ideas contest features a $1 million prize fund and aims to recognise highly sustainable client-supported and commissioned projects in the detailed design phase that are yet to be realized.

Projects already under construction are eligible for the awards programme so long as their completion is not expected before 11 February 2025.

Laura Viscovich, executive director of the Holcim Foundation said: ‘In this decisive decade to advance sustainable development, the Holcim Foundation Awards rewards projects that can s،d up the application of innovative design and construction practices that provide a ،listic response to meeting human development goals and regenerating natural systems.’

Viscovich added: ‘The Awards began in 2004 to address an urgent need to challenge the design and construction sectors to act more responsibly by s،lighting best-in-cl، sustainably-minded projects and processes long before the concept was mainstreamed

‘Our mission – to support people w، are change accelerators for sustainable construction – is today even more important, and we’re buoyed by the fact that the world’s most responsible architects, engineers, and developers are not just thinking sustainably but looking at regenerative solutions to deal with the critical issues that will trouble our future.’

Headquartered in Zurich – the non-profit foundation was set up more than 20 years ago to promote sustainable practices in the fields of architecture, engineering, urban planning, and construction.
