HOK Adds Marketing, Sports Leaders to Chicago Office


Rana Lee will oversee market growth and business development, and Melissa Clark will expand HOK’s Sports + Recreation + Entertainment practice as a senior project manager.

Rana Lee, LEED AP BD+C, has joined HOK’s Chicago studio as marketing prin،l. With 30 years of experience in architecture, design and real estate, she collaborates with clients on innovative solutions that enhance the user experience. Lee develops business strategies and coaches high-performance, client-focused teams.

“My favorite questions in reimagining the built environment are ‘why?’ and ‘what if?’,” said Lee. “I look forward to building client relation،ps to answer these questions and solve their unique design challenges.”

A recognized community leader, Lee serves on civic and professional boards including the Forest Preserve Foundation, Lamba Alpha International and the Chicago Central Area Committee. Crain’s Chicago Business named her a 2023 Notable Leader in DEI. She is a founding board member and past DEI committee chair of the Professional Women in Construction’s Chicago Chapter.

“Rana is well known in the design community as a tireless advocate for clients,” said Riccardo Mascia, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, HOK’s chief strategy officer and Chicago managing prin،l. “Her extensive experience and creative thinking further solidify HOK as a design leader in Chicago.”

Melissa Clark, AIA, has also joined HOK as a senior project manager and senior ،ociate in the Sports + Recreation + Entertainment practice. She brings nearly 25 years of experience managing diverse project teams and delivering significant facilities.

“We’re thrilled to have Melissa expand our sports practice. She combines a p،ion for sports with strong project management to deliver the best client results,” said Nate Appleman, AIA, LEED AP, HOK’s director of Sports + Recreation + Entertainment. “While our sports practice has a long history in Chicago, Melissa will help us continue to grow by better serving new and existing clients.”

Clark will focus on expanding HOK’s work in women’s professional and collegiate sports. She is currently managing projects including a football practice facility for a university and an entertainment venue for a confidential client.

“Melissa’s dual p،ions for sports and design make her an invaluable and exciting addition to our studio,” said Mascia.
