Kvart health centre, Podgorica

The compe،ion seeks conceptual proposals for a landmark new health centre to be built on a 8,643m² plot on the western fringes of Monte،’s capital city.

The new health centre will sit alongside a separate primary sc،ol for which an earlier international design compe،ion was launched in June.

According to the brief, the ‘Ministry of Ecology, Spatial planning and Urbanism has announced an International Compe،ion for a Conceptual Architectural Design of the Primary Health Care Centre in City Kvart in Podgorica.

‘The subject of the compe،ion is the development of the conceptual architectural design of the Primary Health Care Centre in City Kvart in Podgorica on urban plot No. 17, within the scope of the Detailed Urban Plan “Radoje Dakić”. The compe،ion area is 8.643,00 m².’

Podgorica – formerly named Titograd after the Yugoslavian communist statesman Josip Broz Tito – is the capital and largest city of Monte،. It is located at the confluence of the Ribnica and Morača rivers and was heavily reconstructed following significant destruction during the Second World War.

The latest compe،ion comes two years after Podgorica launched an open international contest to upgrade Golootočkih žrtava Square. In 2020, the city launched a separate compe،ion to transform the banks of the River Morača into a new safe, comfortable and sustainable recreational zone with better connections to the surrounding historic city.

Judges will include Vladan Stevović, chief state architect in the Ministry of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism; Ingrid van der Heijden, partner at CIVIC Architects; and Danilo Jokić, director of the Capital City Health Care Centre.

The overall winner – to be announced on 4 December – will receive a €30,000 top prize while a second prize of €20,000, third prize of €10,000 and two ،nourable mentions worth €4,500 each will also be awarded.
