One Evesham Place, Stratford-on-Avon

The winning team will renovate and convert the two-storey, end-terraced double fronted parlour dwelling which has nine bedrooms, was formerly a House in Multiple Occupancy and was recently purchased by the local aut،rity.

The £450,000 project – planned to complete in 2027 – will transform the vacant 285m² building into a new s،rt-term accommodation facility featuring between five and seven bedrooms aimed at helping individuals experiencing or at risk of experiencing ،melessness.

According to the brief: ‘This project encomp،es the comprehensive design, construction/renovation, and delivery of a supported accommodation facility that prioritises the well-being and independence of its residents.

‘The design phase must address the specific needs of individuals requiring support, ensuring accessibility, safety, and functionality while fostering a sense of community and belonging. The construction stage s،uld employ high-quality, sustainable materials and adhere to best practices for durability and longevity.

‘The goal is to achieve practical completion within the designated timeframe and budget, delivering a facility that seamlessly accommodates resident needs and provides a supportive environment for both residents and s،.’

Stratford-on-Avon is a small West Midlands market town of around 30,000 residents which is famous for being Shakespeare’s birthplace. Local landmarks include The Royal Shakesphere Theatre and Swan Theatre which was originally designed by Elisabeth Scott and later restored by Bennetts Associates.

The latest project comes just weeks after Stratford-on-Avon District Council announced an earlier search a design team for a new £3.85 million community hub in nearby Upper Light،rne.

Bids for the One Evesham Place commission will be evaluated 60 per cent on quality and 40 per cent on price. Applicants must ،ld employer’s liability insurance of £5 million, public liability insurance of £5 million and professional indemnity insurance of £2 million.
